A Night with the Son was founded by Stuart Reimers, a student at Indiana University, who organized the first night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on April 8, 2026. He is not the same person as Stuart Knechtle, one of the two guest speakers that night.
Neither. A Night with the Son is a nonprofit event organization, not a church, and it is not affiliated with any single denomination. The 12 ministries in the Indiana University coalition come from a range of traditions and each remains entirely independent. The night exists to worship Jesus and to send everyone who responds back into one of those ministries.
A campus worship night is a single evening of worship put on for an entire college campus, rather than by one ministry for its own students. In the format A Night with the Son uses, every Christian ministry on the campus signs on first, the largest arena on campus is booked second, the night is worship followed by a speaker answering the questions students actually ask, and everyone who responds is connected to a named ministry that meets that week. Two things. First, the coalition comes before the room: every Christian ministry on the campus signs on to run the night together before any venue is booked, so the night belongs to the campus rather than visiting it. Second, the handoff is the point — everyone who responds on the night leaves knowing which named ministry to walk into that week. At Indiana University that meant 12 ministries who were already meeting weekly before the night and were still meeting weekly after it.

In four steps, in this order. 1. Unite the whole campus: Every ministry on campus comes to the night to worship together. 2. Book the biggest room on it: We book and fill the school's basketball arena, so that students from all over campus are encouraged to come. 3. Worship, then the gospel: A full night of worship, then speakers who answer questions that students have. 4. Hand off to the ministries: Everyone who responds leaves knowing which ministry to walk into that week. The night is one evening. The ministries that put it on meet all year. The order matters more than anything else in the format: the coalition is what makes the room fillable, so it comes first, and the handoff is what makes the night last, so it is planned before the night rather than after it.
We have not published a budget, because ours was specific to one arena in one city in one year and a number from it would mislead more than it would help. The variables that actually drive the cost are the venue rental and its required staffing, production and audio, and whatever the worship leadership and speakers require.
